My Fear Resume

Earlier this week I attended a PBWC conference (Professional Business Women of California). I had some mixed feelings about it. I’ve been to one before, but it was years ago. This one had some truly inspiring speakers but overall it fell a bit short for me. The conference theme this year was Rise Up, Lift Up. Good theme – but I just found some of the topics and speakers to be a bit lackluster. But then there are probably those who are raving about everything right now – so to each his (or her) own. You can’t please everyone!

However, I DID get some good tidbits out of this conference (as well as some good quality time with a couple women who I adore and don’t get to see as much as I would like even though we work for the same company!)

Had fun with these ladies. We look like we could totally be TROUBLE!

Liebster Award: Discover New Blogs

This post is a LONG time in coming.   So first things first – thank you to James at BlottedInc for the nomination.  I bet you had given up on me!

I did a little bit of digging (but not quite enough for me to tell you to take my word for it) and found that this award is a way for bloggers to recognize other blogs they enjoy and share them with others – hence the “Discover New Blogs” caption.  Supposedly it is derived from the German word that means “beloved or dear” in English.  If you know German and want to confirm that for me – that would be awesome!  The important thing is that someone thought I was important enough to get this award and I’ve put a few weeks of thought into how to answer back!  I found a BUNCH of graphics for this and of course they all say they are the official one.  The one on BlottedInc’s post references a Global Aussie but my internet does not like the link so I’m going with one that I found that I think is pretty and is pink! Ramblings of a Tired Mind

Me and my tired mind. Is that a big zit on my forehead!? Darn camera reflection in my glasses. Don’t mind me and my ramblings!

So here I sit trying to figure out what to write. Why? Because some part of me feels like I need to be writing. A part of me feels guilty that it has been 5 days since I’ve posted anything. I meant to write over the weekend and I have some ideas that I’ve jotted down. I have a story with some pictures of my boys from a few years ago that I’m dying to share with all of you. I was nominated for a Liebster Award and I need to finish up the requirements for that and post it. I have some great quotes from a book I’ve been reading that I have some thoughts on. So many ideas. . .

Mixing Fantasy/Supernatural & Crime/Mystery – A Book & Blog Review: In Search of Justice & Kat Seaholm

Awhile back I was going through the WordPress Reader and came across a blog that looked interesting – Kat Seaholm – Dreamer, Author, Gatekeeper.  I decided to check it out and immediately started following her.  She is an author, a blogger and a cat lover.  And I found her posts capturing my interest.  Especially the A-Z challenge that she has been doing.  Her theme is “All the Things I Love About Writing”.

The anal side of me had to of course go back and start at A (A is for Authors) because I DEFINITELY could not start in the middle of the alphabet!  As of this post she has gotten through P (P is for Plot), but I have honestly only made it through G (G is for Grammar) so far.  My favorite has been B (B is for Bunnies…aka Plot Bunnies)   My lack of progress is mostly because I keep getting distracted by her other posts and more importantly the book that she published on Amazon!  Continue reading “Mixing Fantasy/Supernatural & Crime/Mystery – A Book & Blog Review: In Search of Justice & Kat Seaholm”

3 Quotes, 3 Days Challenge: Round 2 – Poetry Style (Day 3)

So the doctor has confirmed I am NOT dying. That is good news. No walking pneumonia or anything serious. He said it is just lingering inflammation. Rest and fluids should kick it. So he basically put me on bedrest for today. And then when I told my manager she put me on bedrest for 2 days. Part of me does not want to do this, but I know not following orders is just going to exasperate things. But I am sneaking out to do this post (and maybe a little bit of easy no brainer work.)

I guess today’s quote poetry goes along with this situation a bit. I’m having to admit that things will not fall apart without me for 2 days and my health is more important than finishing up a few work items. Seems pretty obvious, but at times it is hard to really live it. Continue reading “3 Quotes, 3 Days Challenge: Round 2 – Poetry Style (Day 3)”

3 Quotes, 3 Days Challenge: Round 2 – Poetry Style (Day 2 – very LATE)

I am so far behind and so totally breaking the rules (can you tell I have a fascination with rule breaking?! I’ve always been a rule-follower so this breaking the rules thing for me is like a kid with a new toy!)

I’m still fighting the tail end of a cold. I keep thinking I am over it and then I have an “episode” as I’ve started to call them where I can’t breathe and start hacking so much that I basically have coughed up all my organs I think. And before ya’ll start lecturing me – I did make myself a doctor’s appointment for tomorrow morning.

Add to that the normal craziness of my life with kids and a full time job and then one of my good friends just got married! I’m so happy for her and she looked like a Disney Princess yesterday – it was amazing and beautiful and I was all teary eyed to see her so absolutely happy and in love!

But all of this added together has resulted in me being lax in my posting. BUT I am not lax in ideas – so I have tons to catch up on. Buckle up and get ready for a ride over the next few days!

3 Quotes, 3 Days Challenge: Round 2 – Poetry Style (Day 1)

So I’ve been nominated for the 3 Quotes, 3 Days Challenge again. I really enjoyed it the last time so I decided I’m going to play along again. Plus, I honestly am getting over a cold and my brain has kind of shut down on new ideas for posts. So this will hopefully kick start me.

Since I just finished one of these I’m going to spice this one up a bit. The Britchy One recently did this challenge with song lyrics (I think, my brain really is a bit muddled right now – just ask the people at work the other day when I got all mixed up as to where Bucharest, Prague and Romania are!) Anyway, I like that idea but I’m going to mix it up with poetry – but not just any poetry – Atticus poetry!

A friend has recently introduced me to Atticus and I’m thoroughly enjoying his stuff. Plus I started doing some hand lettering – so I’m going to mix the two together! You are all now my guinea pigs.
