Mystery Blogger Award

Mystery Blogger

Kristian from Tales from the Mind of Kristian nominated me for the Mystery Blogger Award, like 9 days ago! Does not seem too long ago, but in Blogger days it is like an eternity! I had not forgotten about it – I was just pondering it and trying to get out of a funk.

So here I am now – thanking Kristian for nominating me. These are always fun! And check out his blog – I thoroughly enjoy it. He has one story going right now that I can’t wait to see how it ends! AND I just found out that he has one of his short stories in a contest!! So follow this link to read it and vote for him!! (The link to the magazine and the contest is actually at the bottom of his post – or here – Vote for Kristian Fogarty!!)

As with all these awards there are rules! Rules that probably get a bit muddled over time and we as bloggers choose to or not to follow based on whatever whims are dancing around in our heads at the time. Today I’m mostly up for following the rules. It is Friday after all. So I’m in a good mood.

The Rules:
1) Thank whoever nominated you and include link to their blog

2) Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well

3) Tell your readers 3 things about yourself

4) Answer the questions from the person who nominated you

5) Nominate 10-20 bloggers you feel deserve the award (WHAT!? That seems a bit dramatic. I’m going to break this rule!)

6) Ask your nominees 5 questions of your choice with one weird or funny one (can I do ALL Weird Ones?!)

7) Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog

So you may be asking – What is the Mystery Blogger Award? Well, since that covers one of the rules that I’m choosing to follow today – here is your answer!

“The Mystery Blogger Award” is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.

Three Things About ME:

1.) I can’t whistle. I know, it is crazy, but true. My dad is one of those people who can put the 2 fingers in his mouth and do the crazy ear splitting whistle. In fact, growing up we would be out and about and his whistle was our call to come home. Me – I try and try and try and if I am lucky I can get something that sounds like a sick cat wheezing to come out. Sometimes I can use a bottle and make a whistle sound. Or a real whistle – I can usually make those work!

2.) I was a band geek and played clarinet from 6th grade to my Junior year in High School. Our school was small so we were the Marching Band, Pep Band and Concert Band. Our marching band was pretty good and my Freshman year we were invited to perform in the Hollywood Christmas Parade. That was a great introduction into High School – Trip to California!

3.) I grew up in the house next door to the house my dad grew up in. We were out in the country so there was a field between the houses. But within a country block radius of my house lived my grandparents, my great grandparents, one of my aunt & uncles, my dad’s aunt and uncle and my dad’s cousin. When a boy asked me out at school I seriously would ask him who his parents were first to make sure we were not related.

Answers to Questions:

1.) What has been the most unexpected benefit you’ve found in Blogging

I started blogging as a way for me to work through some things in my life and to get myself back into writing. Writing has always been an outlet for me and a way to de-stress. What I was not expecting was to find such an amazing community of people. I figured I would write and maybe a few people would read my blog – probably mostly people I already know. But now here I am with 84 official followers and most of them never knew me before I started blogging a few months ago. It has been an amazing experience!

2.) What type of jokes do you find funny? Tell one of your favourites.

SO this may sound horrible – but I LOVE Blonde Jokes. When I was in high school I was blonde (I swear my pregnancies have darkened my hair!) and my dad and I started trying to find the most outrageous blonde jokes we could to share with each other. It is hard to pick just one, but here is the one I decided to share today.

A blonde, a redhead, and a brunette were all lost in the desert. They found a lamp and rubbed it. A genie popped out and granted them each one wish. The redhead wished to be back home. Poof! She was back home. The brunette wished to be at home with her family. Poof! She was back home with her family. The blonde said, “Awwww, I wish my friends were here.”

3.) Would you choose a holiday/vacation to a hot beach or a cool forest?

A cool forest – hands down winner, no contest. I do like the beach – but I’m not much for the heat. And I love the forest! I love green!

4.) If you were stuck on a desert island, what book would you like to have with you?

This is a hard one! I love books! It is hard to choose just one. I’d like to take the Bible, Gone with the Wind and Lord of the Rings. But if I have to choose just one – I would love to be a good girl and say the Bible – but it would actually probably end up being Lord of the Rings.

5.) What animal do you have the closest affinity with and why?

I think I would have to say a horse. I’ve always been that stereotypical girl that loves horses. In grade school I devoured all the Black Stallion books. I drew horses, dreamed about horses, pretended I was a horse. And then I actually got a horse of my own and competed in barrel racing and other events for many years. They are just beautiful, powerful and majestic creatures. BUT if your question is really asking me which animal am I most like? I might have to say a baby panda bear – clumsy and always eating. Have you ever watched those videos of baby pandas before?

Questions for Nominees:
I will admit now – some of these came from my googling – but they were awesome so I went with it. Some of them are truly from my head. Can you tell which ones?

1.) Is it true cannibals don’t eat clowns because they taste funny?

2.) What is the weirdest thing someone has ever said about you before? (I had someone once tell me my eyes were ugly and that they looked like they were yellow with black holes in them – I think they were on something!)

3.) You just died – write your obituary with only six words

4.) Would you rather have skin that changes color based on your emotions or tattoos appear all over your body depicting what you did yesterday? And describe what that would look like on you today.

5.) Where do all the missing socks really go?

And to end this post – I give you proof that my eyes are in fact NOT yellow with black holes. So there – High Dude at the college bus stop who insisted on talking to me – it is called HAZEL!!

      1. Thank you. I have posted it now. 🙂 I did enjoy the wedding, we had a little family gathering and I made a sponge cake with Rhubarb in it from my allotment. I thought Meghan looked lovely and so did her Mum, but I am glad all the fuss is over now. 🙂

      2. Yum, I love rhubarb cake! I’ve been watching Suits with my hubby. We’ve been binge watching it. Meghan is a beautiful woman. I hope they have a wonderful married life and can avoid some of the drama that has affected other royal marriages. I still remember as a girl watching Princess Diana’s wedding. It was magical in my young eyes.
