Today is the last day of my current 3 Quote, 3 Day challenge. And thanks to the Stubborn Australian, you’ve all been getting a glimpse into some of my favorite/most meaningful song lyrics. If you missed Day 1 and Day 2 feel free to go back and check them out.
Today’s choice is taking a bit of a detour. Still is meaningful, but you know me – I can’t be too serious for too long. Don’t get me wrong, these lyrics point to a very serious thing in my life and are extremely meaningful to me, but the presentation is a bit weird and silly. Just like me sometimes!
BUT first – there is a little housekeeping to do – the RULES:
- Thank the person who nominated you – thank you Stubborn Australian!
- Post 1 quote (song lyric) for 3 days
- Nominate 3 people
Now on to the fun part – today’s Song Lyric:
God is bigger than the boogie man.
He’s bigger than Godzilla,
or the monsters on TV.
Oh, God is bigger than the boogie man.
And He’s watching out for you and me.
This is from the song God is Bigger than the Boogie Man which is a Veggie Tales song. If you’ve not heard it before (or if you have) click on this link and take a listen. It is catchy and I guarantee you’ll be singing it for the rest of the day!
My kids grew up on Veggie Tales and to this day the Girl and I love to sing their songs and definitely have our favorites – (The Water Buffalo Song) . The kids all loved these cartoons growing up – my husband on the other hand was a bit freaked out by talking veggies.
Many of the songs are just very silly – which is a perfect fit for the Girl and I. However, there are some good messages in them as well. This song is one that has always been a favorite of mine. It reminds me of one of my favorite scriptures – one an aunt showed to me once when I was young and I’ve never forgotten. One I repeat to myself whenever I start to become afraid or feel overwhelmed. When I was younger it was about being afraid of the dark. Now that I’m older it still works to calm me whenever I’m faced with a crisis or fear.
You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
~ 1 John 4:4 (NASB)
This is a verse and a song which I will NEVER outgrow!
Nominations: Today I’m just leaving it up to all of you. I feel like I constantly choose the same individuals and I probably pick those who don’t want to participate and miss those who do – so if you want to do this – please jump in. If it makes you feel better you can comment and I’ll add a link to your blog so it is “official”.
Once again I loved this challenge and want to than the Stubborn Australian for nominating me and all of you for joining me!
